Howard Sherman, 79, died December 30, 2012 in The Villages, FL. He attended Little Silver schools

before graduating from Bordentown Military Institute in Bordentown, NJ. While at BMI, he was a

student mentor to Norman Schwarzkopf, later General Schwarzkopf, who was in the class behind him.

Howard attended Babson University and received undergraduate and MBA degrees from New York

University.

 

He is survived by his wife, Sally O’Shaughnessy (Carey) Sherman; children Cindy Sherman and spouse

Sheryl Goldstein; Lisa Sherman; Gregg Sherman; stepson Edmund Carey III and wife Landis Carey;

grandchildren Sarah Nodell; Chelsea Dow; Lexi, Spencer and Ashley Sherman; step-grandchild Everett

Carey; sister Susan and her husband Gustave Davis; nephew Jeffrey Davis, his wife Jamie and their

children Kyle and Sabrina. His former wife, Barbara Gorlin, resides in Monmouth County; he was pre-

deceased by his second wife Phyllis Igo (Quinn) Sherman and his niece Stephanie Davis.

 

Howard was associated with several Wall Street financial firms before retiring in 2002. He was an

active skeet shooter for most of his adult life, winning several trophies in the sport. He was devoted to

teaching gun safety to young people. A prince amongst men, Howard will be remembered and greatly

missed by those who knew and loved him. A memorial service in Bordentown, NJ is planned for next

spring. Donations in his memory may be made to a hospice or charity of your choice.
