Miron Gontowicz, 95, of Bordentown, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Compassionate Care Center of St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. He was born on May 29, 1919, in Poland. He was married to Anna Gontowicz, who predeceased him in 2000.
He is survived by daughter Christine (Michael) Steele of Connecticut; son John (Susan) Gontowicz of Hainesport, NJ; granddaughters, Jocelyn Steele, Jennifer (John) Matthews, Blair (Jeremy) Borden, Corinne Gontowicz; great- granddaughters, Ashley Matthews, Lily Matthews, and great-grandson, Nolan Borden.
He was a longtime resident of Bordentown since arriving in the
United States with his wife and daughter in 1949. He had worked at BMI (Bordentown Military Institute) as the head chef until it closed its doors 1972.
Miron had a passion for playing golf and bowling. He volunteered his cooking services for many organizations in the area. He was always active at St. Mary's Church and enjoyed being an usher there. He also was a life member of the Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 and a proud member of Knights of Columbus Council 570 of Bordentown.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on
Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's RC Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Calling hours will be held tonight (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m. with Knights of Columbus services at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held Saturday after Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bordentown.
