Thomas Peter Murray of North Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on May 29, 2013 after a battle with bone cancer. Born August 27, 1945 on Staten Island, NY, Tom was the son of William G. Murray and Marie C. Murray. Tom is survived by his wife Noel Sheridan Murray of North Stamford; three sons: Christopher Murray of Staten Island, NY, Sean Murray (Cara) of Milton, GA, and a stepson Geoff LaDestro of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Rachael, Alexandra, Sean and Catie of Milton GA; a sister Margaret Marli of Milford, PA, and a niece and nephew.
            Tom will be best remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had the amazing gift of connecting with people from all walks of life and making each person feel special and valued. Tom's love of life and generous spirit will be missed by everyone who knew him.
            Tom is a 1963 graduate of Port Richmond High School on Staten Island, NY, and a 1964 graduate of Bordentown Military Institute, Bordentown NJ. In 1968, he graduated with a degree in Literature and Psychology from Hawthorne College in Antrim, NH, where he was Vice President of the Senior Class.
            Tom pursued a career in the Insurance industry in the field of Catastrophic Rehabilitation Case Management and Structured Settlements that spanned five decades. He came to Connecticut with General Reinsurance Corporation in 1978, and left in 1981 to open a Structured Settlement and Medical Management company in Denver, CO. The last 24 years were spent as President of Ringler Associates of Westchester, based in Stamford, CT. Tom was a member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association, where he served as the first Co- Chairman of The Government Benefits Committee. He was a member of National Association of Life Underwriters, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine National Head Injury Foundation, Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America, New York Claim Association, Marquis Who's Who in Rehabilitation Professionals and Facilities, and a Charter Member of The Association of Health Insurance Agents.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, June 7 between 5pm and 8pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Stamford, CT. Everyone is invited to share memories of Tom beginning at 6pm.
            The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Tom's memory to the Palliative Care Department of Greenwich Hospital c/o Greenwich Hospital Foundation Office, 35 River Road, Cos Cob, CT 06807 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
